York University Athletics
May 2020 - December 2021

Brief: I worked for York University Athletics as a member of their Sport Council Executive Team: A student-athlete lead organization that undertook initiatives both within and outside of the York community.
1. May 2020 to April 2021, I was the Community Outreach Director. It was my job to coordinate clinics, events, and initiatives with partnering organizations that were apart of
York University and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
2. May 2021 to December 2021, I was the Social Media Coordinator. It was my role to help with the layout and creation of social media content.
1. Community Outreach Director:
Cubs Clinics
-
I created and helped execute this initiative, which involved athletes going into Shoreham school and helping out the physical education teachers in working with and educating the kids in their respective sport.
-
The aim of the program was to promote teamwork among the students, through group drills and relays incorporating the skills learned during the session.
Before & Afters

Adopt a Family
-
In collaboration with the Jane/Finch Centre, the aim of this fundraiser was to help families in need enjoy a special holiday season by providing them with warm clothing, bedding, boots, cooking items, and toys.
-
In accordance with Covid 19 restrictions, I implemented a digital platform that allowed the public to donate online instead of contributing cash in person as the council had done in past years.
-
The online platform resulted in a record-breaking donation total, with $6,500 raised for nine different families in the community.

Halloween for Hunger
-
In collaboration with York University Food Support Services, I organized the third annual Halloween for Hunger drive. Under my leadership, York athletes were able to raise $1235 which was then used to create 50 hampers to give to local community members as part of the Curbside Food Hamper Distribution Program.

2. Social Media Coordinator
TikTok Challenges
-
To bring athletes and staff together during covid, I organized various TikTok challenges! These allowed the community to continue to engage with athletes while Varisty sports were on pause.

Creating Awareness
-
My most important role as the Social Media Coordinator was to evolve the York Athletics brand to ensure that we as athletes were a part of important social conversations surrounding issues like racial and gender inequality.
-
I organized many social media campaigns aimed at making our mission statement of diversity and inclusion known to the public. Here are just a few examples:
